History
〉Chanbits early life wasn't a pleasant one. His parents seem to have no interest in being parents or in raising him though all accounts seem to show he was a good child. His father sent him to live with his mother, Chanbit's grandmother, who was both old and ill. Though she hid her feelings around him a little better, he did overhear her telling his parents that she was too old to raise him and that they needed to come and get him. At school events, no one came; he didn't even receive a 'Happy Birthday' when the day came around; since his grandmother was old and unable to work, they were also so poor they couldn't afford a cake. In school, his personality and handsome face made him popular in that the rich, cool kids used him to attract girls, something they were open about. Desperate for attention, he allowed it, something that caught Youngha Do's attention. When they're in high school, Youngha asks Chanbit to be his boyfriend, a request Chanbit eagerly accepts, not realizing it would lead to a painful part of his life.
〉The two date, and Chanbit believes he falls in love. Youngha invites Chanbit to a hotel room for their first sexual encounter, something Chanbit is unsure of, but he's terrified of being abandoned again and decides to go through with the encounter. However, Youngha wants Chanbit to play the submissive role in a BDSM type of relationship and wants Chanbit to immediately give him oral sex in spite of Chanbit being a virgin. When he shows hesitation on both accounts, Youngha takes advantage of his fear and talks about how he wouldn't force him, of course, but he'd be terribly disappointed in him as a boyfriend as he's already realized that Chanbit will go along with almost anything to keep from feeling unloved or left out. Thus Chanbit loses his virginity and two being a master/slave BDSM relationship.
〉Eventually, they graduate, and Chanbit makes it into the Seoul University of Arts and meets Baekuyng Suh, a boy who will eventually become his best friend and manager. As Chanbit begins to gain popularity for his acting skill and even lands an acting job, Youngha's father has caught wind of his homosexual relationship and sends him to America to stop the 'disgrace'. That night, Chanbit gives Youngha the good news and asks that he delete the sexual pictures and videos since it could be dangerous if they somehow leaked now that acting seemed to be a real possibility. Not only goes Youngha refuse, he says he plans to keep them as memories since he'd be going to America soon. Crushed and confused as he hadn't been told beforehand, Chanbit asks why, bringing up their love. Instead of being honest, Youngha tells him that it's impossible for anyone to love someone like Chanbit. Since he'd done his best and given Youngha everything he'd ever asked for and was already vulnerable because of his childhood, Chanbit takes this to heart. From that night forward, Chanbit really believed that even if some people may want to have sex with him, no one would really want to date him.
〉Chanbit's grandmother dies.
〉However, thanks to Baekyung, his college years aren't terrible. He gains new experiences, often gets his way thanks to his new best friend, and makes some precious memories. Baekyung even goes so far as to occasionally buy his lunch and such, a meal he'd had to skip in the past due to his poor background.
〉In the upcoming years, Chanbit gains popularity and eventually becomes a very big name actor with Baekyung, who was eventually wanting to be an actor but realized his skill was nothing compared to Chanbit's, acting as his manager and staying by his side as his best friend. Baekyung also falls in love with Chanbit but never admits his love so the two also have a' friends with benefits' aspect to their relationship. Rumors of Chanbit's tastes spread, causing him to attract the attention of men who want to dominate him, something Chanbit doesn't hate since BDSM shaped his sexual experience to the point that it became his preference. He begins to work for DZ Entertainment which is part of the DM group, one of the top three biggest corporations in Korea. However, he refuses to use one of their managers and stays with Baekyung instead. Mr. Park will be their go-between and someone who becomes caught in the crosshairs, too.
Synoposis
〉The story finally begins when Chanbit is shooting his movie 'Taboo', and we meet his new stylist Chae Lee. We also get an idea of his sexual preference when he asks Baekyung to use the handcuffs from the movie during sex and later, when he notices Chae's interest in him, invites him to have sex. However, he answers Baekyung's call while they're having sex, causing Baekyung to barge into the room and kick Chae out after giving him a lecture about not sleeping with the actors. Though he does give Chanbit a lecture, he also gives Chanbit a bath and pampers him; the difference between the two is clear. As the movie ends, Chae is curious about their relationship as Baekyung seems so cold to everyone else but practically spoils Chanbit. When Baekyung tries to get the attention off his softer attitude toward Chanbit, he says they weren't really friends even in college, a time where Chanbit considered them best friends. Though he pushes down the emotions, this is hurtful as Chanbit is very insecure about his relationships and after drinking with the crew, he barges in and demands an explanation. Baekyung explains he just doesn't want anyone to know about their relationship as it would be problematic for Chanbit. Finally, on the last day, we meet Shin Lee, a supporting actor in the role that has an obvious interest in Chanbit, something that bothers Baekyung.
〉Chanbit finally gets a week off, and he's spending time with Baekyung who's trying to be the responsible adult to Chanbit's immature personality. Chanbit wants chicken; Baekyung fixes him healthy food. They lay around and watch a horror movie, one that Chanbit finds especially sad since the killer's motivation was because of her love for someone else; he's weak to love. However, he's been texting with Shin, something Baekyung asks him to stop. Once Baekyung leaves, Shin shows up with the bucket of chicken Chanbit asked him to bring. Though he didn't really want to have sex with Shin, he doesn't express as much and knew it was a possibility. However, Shin is also very selfish ((in the not sexy way; finishing quickly, finishing again as soon as he penetrated, asking Chanbit for a second round of oral sex to help him get erect for a second penetration, finishing too early again)), and Chanbit is all too ready to have him leave. Instead, Shin suggests they date as their sexual chemistry is perfect and since Chanbit is a slut anyway, it seems better to just have one person to have sex with. Unimpressed with being called a slut and very unimpressed with the sex, he refuses with increasing intensity as Baekyung calls again. As Chanbit goes to answer it, not wanting to worry Baekyung, Shin attacks him, feeling insulted at the refusal, and begins to choke him. When Chanbit doesn't answer, Baekyung rushes back over. Since they don't live in the same building and thus, Baekyung couldn't have made it before Chanbit was choked out, I assume he does manage to hold him off a little while but when Baekyung makes it back, Shin has Chanbit pinned to the bed, choking him, and adding insult to injury (('I heard you're a pervert who likes this sort of thing')). Baekyung punches Shin and kicks him out, but Chanbit lies and says he asked Shin to choke him, knowing that if Baekyung knew the truth, he'd be in danger of actually going too far in his quest for vengeance. However, seeing the danger in his actions, both to himself and Baekyung, Chanbit promises to be more careful. Probably, he means it.
〉Reenter Youngha, who has returned from America to serve as CEO of DZ Entertainment. Not realizing who they're being called to see, Chanbit and Baekyung are called to meet the CEO. Baekyung has never met the man but Chanbit is shocked into silence until the two of them are left alone, where Youngha blackmails Chanbit into oral sex, using the tapes as leverage. The encounter leaves Chanbit shaken and depressed, something that Baekyung notices. On the ride back, he does admit to knowing Youngha, though he leaves out the details, worried that Baekyung would hate him if he knew they'd dated and recorded their sexual encounters ((why, I dunno; Baekyung has seen him do worse, but Chanbit isn't always rational)). That night, he even has nightmares about the neglect he experienced as a child, something Baekyung notes hasn't happened in a long time. As a result, he tries to cheer up Chanbit by watching a movie, but Chanbit wants to go out, something difficult due to his fame. However, Baekyung relents, covers his face, and they had to a small restaurant where they remember their college years. On the way back home, Chanbit teases Baekyung, and the two flirt, only to be seen by Youngha. Chanbit convinces Baekyung to ignore him and go inside, which they mostly do after a small acknowledgment. However, Youngha is waiting outside when Baekyung leaves and admits to knowing about Chanbits tastes, making Baekyung suspicious. Once Baekyung is gone, Youngha goes upstairs, threatens to break in, and once more blackmails Chanbit, this time more long-term. And so, the coerced relationship starts. Furthermore, Youngha realizes he can't control the current Chanbit like he could when they were in high school and decides to isolate him from everyone else to get him back under control. His first order of business is to tell him to fire Baekyung and accept a manager from them.
〉In the upcoming months, there's a noticeable change in Chanbit. He delays returning home, wanting to spend more time with Baekyung though he no longer has Baekyung sleep over. Youngha doesn't come by his apartment every night, but he comes by often, and he's started his retraining of Chanbit. However, Chanbit still isn't fully following his orders and hasn't fired Baekyung. So, the company pressures Mr. Park into talking to Baekyung about convincing Chanbit to get another manager, something Baekyung tries to do and fails in. That night, while he has Chanbit tied up and all of his sensors removed ((blindfolds, etc)), Youngha takes Chanbit's phone and sends Baekyung a message to hire another manager before doing a factory reset on his phone. YoungJae Kim meets with them soon after, confusing Chanbit as to why there's a second manager now, but he does figure it out. Though YoungJae doesn't know about the relationship between Youngha and Chanbit, he does as he's told and keeps tabs on Chanbit.
〉With a mole in place, it's time for Youngha to continue his isolation of Chanbit. Youngha notices a close relationship between Chanbit and Chae as the two have become good friends in spite of the awkward night. Youngjae and Baekyung are clashing as Youngjae openly questions the ability of a manager who's had no management training, but he's able to manipulate Chae more easily. After getting drunk, Chae admits that he slept with Chanbit and while Chanbit is busy in a panel to promote Taboo, YoungJae corners Chae and threatens to out him unless he quits. Since Chae isn't out to his family, he agrees and asks to speak to Baekyung privately, leaving Chanbit to do the panel with Shin Lee ((the man who choked him)) without emotional support, something that bothers Chanbit. However, after Baekyung explains what happened, Chanbit is more focused on Chae's resignation. One down.
〉YoungJae and Baekyung continue to butt heads until YoungJae sabotages Baekyung by not telling him when one of Chanbit's appearances was moved, something he's able to defend because Baekyung had originally snapped at him for telling him about all of the scheduled appointments as if Baekyung didn't already know Chanbit's schedule.
〉That night, Youngha summons Chanbit to his apartment where they get drunk before having sex. Chanbit's exhausted from nonstop work and meeting with Youngha at night, leaving the drink the last push he needs before nearly passing out while on top of Youngha. As punishment, Young takes Chanbit's phone and texts Baekyung to come and get his charge. Once there, Chanbit wakes up to Youngha pretending the two of them are in a relationship, a lie he believes he must go along with in order to protect Baekyung as Baekyung is protective enough to do something criminal to Youngha in response. Angry and hurt, Baekyung leaves. Due to Chanbit's harsh response and Baekyung's pain at forever losing a chance with Chanbit, there's a rift between them. Though Chanbit does try to reach out to him, his calls are neither answered nor returned.
〉Slowly but surely, Chanbit is falling into Youngha's hands. With YoungJae now acting as his singular manager and his stylists being from the company, he has no one left outside of Youngha's command. However, YoungJae is doing a bad job at handling Chanbit, who begins to act distracted in interviews while waiting for Baekyung to return his falls. In order to sever his last ally, Youngha fires Mr. Park as well. However, Chanbit also isn't acting any more obedient in the bedroom either, disappointing Youngha who believed he'd be more pliable if he was alone. Realizing something is off with Youngha, YoungJae vows to keep an eye on him for his own sake. After getting reprimanded for Chanbit's unprofessionalism, YoungJae sneaks onto Youngha's computer and finds the files. Thinking he can shame Chanbit into submission, he publishes the photos, and even if Chanbit's face isn't visible, he starts the online rumor that the videos are of Chanbit.
〉Meanwhile, Baekyung is beginning to feel things are off and meets with Mr. Park, who offers his theory on what's happening with Chanbit and Youngha. Since no one is able to reach Chanbit once the videos are published, he struggles but finally remembers a place Chanbit loved to visit when they were at college. Sure enough, he's hiding out there, sure Baekyung and everyone will hate him. Instead, Baekyung confesses and the two start a relationship. In order to preserve the company's reputation, Youngha donates a large sum of money to a charity in Chanbit's name, stealing the attention away from the scandal. Chanbit agrees to leave DZ Entertainment and take a chance on the company Baekyung plans to create just for him. Now, it's a matter of getting out of the contract and away from Youngha.
〉The separation happens in steps. Youngha confronts YoungJae about publishing the videos, something he was able to discover thanks to the camera in his office. Once Baekyung meets with YoungJae and informs him of the statements he received from past actors ((all of whom were harassed by YoungJae in some way)), YoungJae agrees to work with him since he knows Youngha plans to fire him soon anyway. With some evidence, Chanbit approaches Youngha's father and confesses everything, knowing he's the only person financially powerful enough to act as a buffer. After taking some responsibility for his very neglectful raising of Youngha, he agrees to do something and waves some of the fees that come with cutting ties with the company. Baekyung meets with Youngha and uses what he learned of his past to bait him into attacking, something Chanbit is recording. The treat is clear and obvious: they'll press charges for assault of Youngha tries to use the videos against Chanbit again. Shamed at his son's behavior ((homosexuality just as much as the forced aspect)), Youngha's father meets with him and sends him back to America where he'll be less shameful.
〉After YoungJae helps them, Baekyung meets with him again, and he gets some hits in. It's satisfying enough to get a point here.
〉Chanbit's birthday comes. Chae comes to his apartment after Baekyung leaves after claiming he has work to do for his new company. They reconnect and Chanbit happily follows, knowing they're celebrating his birthday. The event is important to him because it was never celebrated when he was a child. However, it turns out Chae is leading him to a small party where Baekyung and Mr. Park await. Mr. Park lets them know that the actors and actresses came out against YoungJae and he's now blacklisted from the business. As Baekyung and Chanbit head home, Baekyung gives him a ring, one they'll have to keep secret but which solidifies their relationship.
Epilogue
〉Chanbit's career is flourishing, and the two are secretly dating. While watching T.V. together, they see Yung-Hyuk Kwon, an underclassmen of theirs from college. Unlike Chanbit, Yung-Hyuk isn't as talented and has had trouble getting his career started. Recently, he's been doing well on variety shows and receiving some semblance of fame. Thinking fondly of him, Chanbit comments that they should try and get in touch with him. However, there's no need as they soon meet at an engagement party, and it seems that Yung-Hyuk will play a minor character in Chanbit's new drama 'Leech Doctor of the Sun'. He expresses some worry and asks Chanbit to give him acting tips. Always friendly, he agrees. Unbeknownst to them, Yung-Hyuk has had a large crush on Baekyung since college and plans to use this chance to win his love.
〉So starts the training. Yung-Hyuk comes to Chanbit's place first thing every morning for lessons, something which annoys Baekyung. However, when he confronts Yung-Hyuk about being more courteous of Chanbit's time, Yung-Hyuk manages to win his sympathy by talking about how much he's been struggling to break into acting. He also uses this to start meeting up with Baekyung outside of the lessons and in turn, uses these meetings with Baekyung to cause self-debt in Chanbit. Chanbit forgets to remove his ring and Yung-Hyuk recognizes it as a matching ring to one that had previously fallen from Baekyung's pocket. Trusting him to keep it a secret, he confesses that they're dating. Yung-Hyuk also confesses his crush on Baekyung, leaving Chanbit off balance. Hoping Baekyung will be angry that Chanbit spilled their secret, Yung-Hyuk lets Baekyung know that he's aware of their relationship, but it doesn't have the desired result.
〉Instead of backing off, Yung-Hyuk continues to plant seeds of doubt in Chanbit's head until Chanbit blows up. Instead of taking Yung-Hyuk's side, Baekyung asks him to leave so he could work things out with Chanbit. After a bit of distance, a very small distance since Baekyung still stays over, they make up and agree it's best if there are some boundaries set between them and Yung-Hyuk. Baekyung delivers the news and lets him know that his company won't be signing Yung-Hyuk, something Yung-Hyuk has also been pushing for. However, not to be deterred, he knows the three of them will meet again when they start working on the drama.
〉It's time for the table read. Yung-Hyuk is complimented on his improvement, something he finds surprising but the lessons with Chanbit has been working well after all. However, at the read, when Chanbit's pulled aside for an interview, Yung-Hyuk once more tries to corner Baekyung, causing Chanbit to storm over and separate them. Later that day, Chanbit catches Yung-Hyuk's manager. Up to this point, Yung-Hyuk has been secretly treating his manager poorly, but the manager does know about his plan and has stayed by his side because of his own feelings for Yung-Hyuk. His manager apologizes for Yung-Hyuk's behavior though nothing more is uncovered until Chanbit overhears Yung-Hyuk talking with his manager and the truth is revealed. Yung-Hyuk is touched when he finds out how much his manager thinks of him, but he refuses to apologize to Chanbit and Baekyung, causing a more permanent separation.
〉The story ends with Chanbit and Baekyung still very much in love.
